Overview

With Josys MCP, you can reference Josys data from AI tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, and Cursor, and perform operations like searching for devices and updating member information using natural language.

This article explains what you can do with Josys MCP, the preparation required before use, and how to connect it with AI tools.

What is MCP?

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is a common standard for connecting AI tools with external services. Any AI tool that supports this standard can connect to external services using the same method.
By using Josys MCP, you can connect to Josys from AI tools like Claude and ChatGPT to reference information such as members and devices, as well as perform operations like registration and updates.

Furthermore, if that AI is also integrated with MCPs of other tools like Google Sheets or Slack, you can perform workflows such as the following:

Read a device ledger in Google Sheets (Google Sheets connection)
Register or update devices in Josys (Josys MCP)
Post the results to Slack (Slack connection)
Automate this process to run at a scheduled time, such as weekly

Supported Scope of Josys MCP

The following areas are supported by Josys MCP:

Area	Supported Functions
Users	List, retrieve, search, create, update, and delete users. Manage custom fields, and handle department and work location information.
Devices	List, retrieve, search, create, update, and delete devices. Assign/unassign devices, and manage custom fields.
Managed Apps	List integrated/custom apps and app accounts. Check apps associated with users. Assign, deactivate, and delete tracked apps.
Departments	List, retrieve, search, create, update, and delete departments. Manage parent-child hierarchies.
Work Locations	List, create, update, and delete work locations. Manage work location information. Use work location codes for users.

Note: Josys MCP is currently built on top of the existing Josys API layer. For more details on available features and supported operations, please refer to the Josys API documentation.

For example, you can make requests like "List unused Slack licenses," "Are all SaaS accounts deactivated for employees who left this month?" or "Show me users with admin privileges."

Setup Steps

Connect Josys MCP to your AI app using the access token generated on the Josys Developer page.

Important Notes

With Josys MCP, you can not only retrieve information but also create, update, and delete supported data. If you are using it for the first time, please first verify the connection using read-only operations.

When updating or deleting data, please carefully verify the target data and the actions to be executed before proceeding with the operation.
