How to Check and Reissue Google MFA QR Codes

Overview

This page explains how to obtain the QR code required when integrating applications with Google SSO or MFA enabled into Josys using the AI Integration Builder. Reference: Integrating Apps Using the AI Integration Builder

It describes the steps to check and redisplay the authenticator QR code used when setting up and operating multi-factor authentication (MFA / 2-Step Verification) on a Google Account.
Due to Google's specifications, once setup is complete, the QR code cannot be displayed on the screen again. Therefore, if you want to save the QR code image or register it in a new system or app, you must delete (remove) the existing "Authenticator" registration and set it up again.

Target Audience

Users who need to prepare the MFA QR code image for their Google Account when configuring integrations for MFA/Google SSO-supported apps in the AI Integration Builder.

Steps

Follow the steps below to display and check the authenticator QR code from your Google Account management screen.

Preparation: Open the Google Account Management Screen

1. Access the Google Account Management Page in your web browser and log in with the target account.

2. Select "Security and Sign-in" (or "Security" if that is the current label on the actual screen) from the left menu.

Pattern A: First-time Setup (When 2-Step Verification is Disabled)

1. Click the "Authenticator" button under "You can add more sign-in options" at the bottom of the screen. (Or click "2-Step Verification" to proceed with enabling it.)
   

2. If prompted for identity verification (password entry), enter your password.

3. Follow the on-screen instructions, and the QR code will be displayed.

4. Take a screenshot of only the QR code portion.
   *It is fine if there is some margin included.

Pattern B: Already Configured (To Reissue or Check)

1. Click "Authenticator" in the "How you sign in to Google" section in the center of the screen.
   
2. If prompted for identity verification (password entry or re-authentication), follow the on-screen instructions to proceed.

3. If an authenticator is already configured, click the trash can icon (Delete) on the right to temporarily remove the setting.
   

   ⚠️ Important Notes on Invalidating Old QR Codes
   ・Once you reset (reconfigure) the authenticator, all 6-digit one-time passwords generated from the previous QR code will immediately become invalid. Since you will no longer be able to log in to Google using the old settings registered in your Google Authenticator or other apps, make sure to scan the new QR code.
   
   ・If you have already created an integration using the old QR code in the AI Integration Builder, you will need to update the settings using the new QR code.

4. Click "+ Set up authenticator" (or "Change to a different app") to display the QR code.

5. Take a screenshot of only the QR code portion.
   *It is fine if there is some margin included.
